Annual Fund Drive

Dear Friends,

“What a glorious feeling...I’m happy again!”

The melodies from Singin’ in the Rain echoed around Diamond Head Theatre all summer long. Without a doubt that show made a lot of people happy. The theatre was filled with excited chatter and smiling faces...especially after it rained on stage!

Sometimes people ask me why should they donate to Diamond Head Theatre? There are so many other urgent causes — homelessness, poverty, abuse. I agree. The causes are many and there will always be hungry people to feed and sick people to make well. But I suggest what we do here at Diamond Head Theatre — making people happy — is important too. Helping keep a community happy and upbeat is vital. To make other people well, WE need to be well. And part of that wellness comes from music, dance, a sense of community, and a feeling of belonging.

That’s what you get from Diamond Head Theatre. Whether you are a patron in the audience; an actor on stage singing and dancing your heart out, or one of our dedicated seniors passing out playbills, Diamond Head Theatre has a role for you.

And now we need your help. Despite having hit shows, we still have to raise over $750,000 a year in donations. The reality is that tickets sales cover less than half our costs. Your contributions ensure a steady stream of revenue that allows us to do what we do best—put on great shows, offer year-round classes for kids, give our seniors a volunteer job they love. It all works, thanks to you.

“Don’t Rain On Our Parade!” (as Fanny Brice sings in Funny Girl).

Please give to Diamond Head Theatre’s 2012 Annual Fund Drive.

Warm holiday wishes,

Deena Dray
